On Saturday, April 18th, join Dr. Lloyd Mallory for the inaugural Sankofa Project event, featuring Dr. Mallory and Stanley Thurston, as well as Washington Master Chorale's Thomas Colohan, in a choral reading session and workshop celebrating music of Black composers, including Adolphus Hailstork, Florence Price, Richard Smallwood, Jasmine Barnes, Nathaniel Dett, and more. A light lunch will be provided to all workshop participants, followed by a concert at Capitol Hill featuring members of the Washington Master Chorale and the Lloyd Mallory Singers, which is free and open to the public on April 18 at 5:30 pm.

The Lunch and Choral reading session will be Sabbath afternoon at 2:30 pm - 5:30 pm. There is a $25 fee and registration is required. Register here. 

You're invited to the concert for the inaugural Sankofa Project, which will feature members of the Washington Master Chorale and the Lloyd Mallory Singers. The concert starts at 5:30 pm and is free and open to the public.

Washington Master Chorale's newly-established Sankofa Project (from the Akan language of Ghana, symbolizing the importance of learning from the past) amplifies Black voices through concerts, educational workshops, lecture/recital series, choral readings, and community conversations with Black composers and musicians.

If you’ve realized you don’t know God’s word the way you thought you did, either because you couldn’t answer a question someone posed to you, or, on your own, you couldn’t come to a Bible conclusion about what you thought you knew, then the “Contend for the Faith” Bible studies, hosted by Personal Ministries, is for you! If you know God’s word, are convinced of its truths, and are being transformed by the power of His word, then the “Contend for the Faith” Bible studies are for you! If you’re somewhere in between the two groups already mentioned, then the “Contend for the Faith” Bible studies are for you!

The greatest threat to faith is doubt. The only way to defeat doubt is to add confidence—that’s “substance”—to hope, and “evidence” to the unseen (Heb. 11:1). The “Contend for the Faith” Bible studies, will, by God’s grace and leading, strengthen your knowledge of God‘s word, empower you to confidently present the truths of God‘s word, and settle you as transformed believers of God‘s word. Thereby, you will defeat the enemy of doubt, while developing an intelligent, abiding and active faith in God, our soon coming Savior, Redeemer and Friend!

This new bible studies series is held on 1st Sabbaths, via Zoom and 4th Sabbaths in person at Capitol Hill.

The CHC family is invited to help with the Spring Church Cleanup on Sunday, April 26 from 11 am - 3 pm! The Deacons Ministry will lead this important effort. Volunteers will focus on the lower level from 11 am - 1 pm while the Christ Reformed Church is hosting their service. After their service ends, volunteers will move upstairs from 1 pm - 3 pm to focus on the main level and balcony. Pizza will be available.

Volunteers must wear closed toe shoes and comfortable clothes that are OK to get dusty and dirty. 

Where to meet at 11 am? 
Outside in front of the Capitol Hill Counseling and Resource Center for instructions to minimize any possible disruption to the Christ Reformed Church service.

Join us for "Sew What" Part Two! It will begin on Sunday, April 26, 2026 in the Fellowship Hall. There will be four Sunday classes, each from 2 - 4 pm. See the dates below. Together, we will learn to sew and have fun while we learn! Bring your sewing machine, fabric, and your imagination!!! It’s going to be great!!! Space is limited. Mother's Day Weekend Sabbath is always special at Capitol Hill, and this year is no different. On Saturday evening, everyone is invited to a special Mother's Day program in the Fellowship Hall that will showcase the love and talents of our CHC moms and their children.
