Our Mission
Our goal at the Older Adults Ministry is to establish a friendly and inclusive environment for older adults in our church and the community. We plan to create an age-friendly hub at Capitol Hill SDA Church, which will serve as a vital resource for promoting socialization, wellness, and spiritual growth among our elderly population. We invite you to join us in this mission and help us create a welcoming space for older adults to thrive.
About Us
We aim to change how we perceive individuals 50 and older by introducing tailor-made age-related programs. We want to combat ageism, create a friendly church towards individuals with dementia and their caregivers, provide older people with resources to help them live in their homes, and ultimately enhance the quality of life for our church members.
Studies show that various factors can impact healthy aging, some of which are beyond our control, such as genetics. However, we have control over many other factors, such as maintaining a healthy diet, exercising regularly, going to the doctor
for check-ups, and taking care of our
mental health.
Research backed by the National Institute of Aging and other organizations has identified several actions that we can take to manage our health, live independently for as long as possible, and maintain our quality of life as we age. Keep reading to learn more about these research findings and the steps you can take to promote healthy aging.
